I felt the tug of a poem
a word flickered across the back of my mind
a phrase
a feeling
was it a memory
or something imagined
but wait … I …
almost had it
I felt the tug of a poem
toyingly flitting in the shadows and sparkles
of dappled sun like a butterfly
I so wanted to see
and hear and yet
it’s gone
and I
feel hollow and used
as if a lover
just turned from passion
to snore
while I alone
want more.
I felt the tug of a poem
a feeling long unfelt
a stirring, surprise
and disheartenment.
